There are thoughts, there are feelings, and there are actions. Thoughts generally derive from the intellectual capacity, while feelings derive from the emotional center. Actions are enacted based on the choices we make and the behaviors we take, whether predetermined or determined by you.
The intellectual center is filled by its own impulses and mind. The emotional center is aligned with more emotion and feeling, which is seated in the heart. Then there’s the center of instinct, which is derived from the gut and also from the sacral region, encompassing reproductive desires, the drive to procreate, and the iron will to preserve and dominate.
These three centers, generally speaking, may correlate with different aspects of the self. The ego is most closely associated with the intellect, the superego aligns most closely with the heart, and the id is most connected with the gut and the sacral instincts of reproduction, preservation, domination, and safety.
Within the spectrum and myriad of complex factors within this chaotic organism of the human self, these centers continue to function. Nonetheless, despite the internal commotion, beyond the paradigm of the organism lies the horizon of potential possibilities. Therein is the hope of transcending chaos and achieving harmony.
