Navigating Global Affairs and Personal Well-being
I recently had an intriguing session with a young person curious about the nature of global affairs and their implications on individual well-being. Our conversation touched on conspiracy theories, various controlling interests, and what these mean for us personally. The approach I took was to demystify the irrational anxiety and fear surrounding these topics by providing a straightforward understanding of human affairs focused on greed, corruption, and controlling interests.
We acknowledged that certain things are beyond our control, especially societal and macro affairs. However, by understanding them through the lens of human nature—specifically greed, control, and power—we can see that these elements have been an inevitable part of humanity since its beginning. This realization leaves us with a personal question: What does this mean for each of us, and how do we make sense of everything happening around us?
The young person made an insightful observation, thanking me for broadening her perspective on macro systemic issues. She mentioned as a result, her anxiety had lessened yet was still left with a question: What did this mean for her and her role within her profession?
She mentioned that her role and job exist only because of previous events, a sentiment I share about my role as a logotherapist. As I shared, our existence is not in isolation but in relation to what has come before us. Change is inevitable, and our ability to adapt and make sense of it is crucial.
This process involves being both resolved and flexible. An open-minded willingness for tolerance and understanding eases the challenges of adjustment. It helps us align our sense of meaning and purpose with the ever-changing societal affairs. Change is inevitable; things are the way they are and are situated as they need to be, all in their rightful place within the time and space continuum.
