The Role of the Transcendent in Higher Consciousness

The Role of the Transcendent in Higher Consciousness

What is the role of the transcendent in higher consciousness? This concept has been touched upon in therapy and explored by various philosophers and mystics, particularly those of the East. In Hinduism, the idea of transcending the limited self and aligning with the transcendent and infinite self is a profound one. This infinite transcendent self has had many names in Western traditions, such as the Higher Self or the Holy Guardian Angel.

The pursuit of self-realization, to identify with the Higher Self, represents the epitome of self-mastery. It involves releasing attachment to the smaller aspects of the self and the illusions created by the ego—those false identities of “I am this” or “I am that.” In truth, one is neither.

Some notable teachers of the East, great Gnostics and Yogis, have taught these concepts, and my conversations with mentors have deepened my understanding of this profound knowledge, ultimately guiding me on the path of self-realization.

To know your true self is the ultimate aim. The path of self-inquiry points back to the observer within, encouraging identification with the true self. In achieving this, questions cease to exist, for identifying with the true self grants access to the infinite, the resolvable, and the resilient. Transcending the ego involves stepping outside oneself, seeking the transcendent, and serving others rather than oneself. “To seek to serve than to be served.”

What is the ego that demands to be served? It is the ego that keeps one constrained. These are the concepts that will be further explored as we delve deeper into the quest for self-knowledge and fulfillment.
