Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: A Journey of Humility and Enlightenment

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: A Journey of Humility and Enlightenment

“We must learn from the wisdom of the ancients,” this timeless axiom serves as a reminder that the research of the present day is built upon the foundations laid by the past. To keep research relevant, however, one must study not only the distant past but also the recent past, building specifically upon emerging ideas to capitalize on their relevance. These principles are carried forth in ancient traditions, culture, society, family, religion, and spirituality, embodying the idea that we must honor our parents and ancestors—those who have come before us.

The age-old verse of wisdom states that we stand on the shoulders of giants who preceded us. This is a humbling notion, for even in our greatest attainments, we recognize a sense of humility within our understanding of how life has gone on, continues, fulfills itself, and will continue even after us.

Often, the ego assumes that everything begins and ends with oneself, but this is far from the truth. Will not life go on after you pass on? Of course, it will. Life existed before you came and will exist after you leave.

This realization alone is enough to deduce that beyond your life and what you think you know, there may be another truth, another reality unknown to you. Logic affirms this.

I hope this reflection serves as a reason to ponder your lessons, trials, gains, and mistakes today, understanding that whatever mishap has befallen you is no longer part of what imprisons you but part of your testimony and resurrection.

The resurrection of the light within you is to resurrect yourself from false attachments into a full remembrance of your divinity.
