Beyond the Horizon: The Journey of Awakening and Transformation

Is there any truth to the notion that one may open gates into other worlds, potentially intensifying mental health symptoms? This idea seems to resonate within the realm of mystical practices, where the awakening of the kundalini is often approached with caution. Many in the East caution against this awakening, suggesting it may lead to mental health issues or, in extreme cases, insanity. Yet, when we encounter the term “insanity,” we find it is often a blanket phrase, enveloping a myriad of mental instabilities and extreme manifestations.

In contrast, the West has adopted a more controlled approach to spiritual practices, frequently highlighting the worst-case scenarios that accompany deviation from the norm. Much like any great explorer embarking on an adventure, the masses often fear the edges of the world, believing that lurking at the precipice are chthonic beasts waiting to swallow the unwary. This fear mirrors the journey of Christopher Columbus, who defied the belief in a flat Earth, proclaiming that beyond the horizon lay a new world, not merely the end of the known.

People will always fear what they do not understand, and fear often stems from what remains unknown. For instance, if I were to express a desire to become an astronaut, I would be filled with trepidation. The thought of confined spaces and the vastness of space—where the risks are many and the possibility of floating endlessly is a stark reality—would surely evoke fear. This metaphor aptly reflects the journey of those who dare to challenge conventional norms in pursuit of truth.

The yogis of the East warn of the risks associated with mystical practices, cautioning that certain doors, once opened, may never be closed. However, I reject the notion of allowing fear to confine me. Fear itself keeps many trapped within the cognitive schemas of self-imprisonment, akin to addiction and mental struggles. To grow, one must occasionally challenge their own beliefs, unless doing so fundamentally contradicts the core values of their existence. As the saying goes, one cannot expect change if one changes nothing.

Thus, when a person seeks true spiritual evolution and personal development, they must be willing to undergo a rebirth. This concept is echoed by many teachers, philosophers, and adepts throughout history. To embrace this rebirth, one must be prepared to leave everything behind in search of a new world—or rather, to perceive the same world through a new set of eyes.
