The Sage’s Return: A Vow to Transcendence and Healing

Historically, the more a sage self-realizes, the more they tend to withdraw from the unnecessary noise of society. This has been the case since the dawn of time. I would like to hypothesize that this phenomenon occurs because, as individuals pull away from the clamor within themselves, they discover the transcendent, an entity isolated in its own profound intelligence. The reflective nature of experience intertwines the micro and the macro; as one retreats inward, so too does one distance themselves from the superfluous din of the world outside.

Yet, why does this individual ultimately return to society? The answer lies in a singular purpose: to administer medicine. When a sage uncovers the balm that soothes both mind and soul, an irresistible urge arises to share this healing with others who remain imprisoned by their suffering. This is the vow of one who does not solely live for personal betterment but strives for the upliftment of the world.

Such a commitment is made as a sacred promise to the transcendent, a recognition that we are all but facets of that ultimate truth, each reflected in the individual truths of countless lives that move like ants upon the earth.
